I happened to be flipping through the channel's tonight and came across a NASCAR story on Lou Dobbs show (on CNN). Anyway apparently the U.S. Congress put out a memo of some type suggesting that aides and other government officials going to the upcoming NASCAR race at Charlotte to get all their immunizations. Now Dobbs and a Republican congressman (from NC of course) took this as prejudice. Of course the Democrat they had on defended the memo saying "it was meant for any large event, in case of an attack." Now I'm not attacking Democrats (I'm an independant and actually lean towards that party). That's neither here nor there though. I'm sick and tired of the general attitude by most non-NASCAR fans that we're all a bunch of beer-swilling, toothless rednecks. I don't mind the biggest idea that I get from people that it's just "cars turning left for hours." They just don't get it and that's fine. But when people down-grade everyone that watches a sport (the #2 sport in the U.S.) it just kind of rubs me wrong I guess. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? I'm curious what you guys think.

Re: Prejudice
Fri, October 12, 2007 - 1:33 PMSorry, but I am not familiar with Lou Dobbs, (I guess the Immunization I took years ago against idiots in journalisim is stil working) but maybe he is trying to get my attention via controversy, and it seems to be working.
Not for sure what they would be getting immunizations against. Do you know if there is a transcript available for this show? All I could find on the net so far is at the following address:
www.topix.com/forum/city/...LBEOHHLD17TI
But this is only replies to what I have not seen. I could not find anything on CNN web site either. If you know where I can find this, please post it here.
thanx

Re: Prejudice
Fri, October 12, 2007 - 2:27 PMActually Z, I looked all over the internet after watching the segment. I couldn't find anything. I only found something on another incident about some nobody in the Washington State congress that made remarks that Richard Petty looked like "the stereotypical DUI case." It's funny that Imus can call the Rutger's girls basketball teams "nappy-headed ho's" and it's a national controversy. but if someone makes a comment like that about Richard Petty it gets no attention at all.
